Who we are…
First 5 Siskiyou Children and Families Commission nurtures resilience, and empowers community through investments and innovative partnerships and programs.
First 5 Siskiyou champions the health, development, and well-being of young children and their families across Siskiyou County. Rooted in the belief that every child deserves a strong start, the Commission invests in programs and partnerships that build resilient families, strengthen early learning, and foster safe, connected communities.
As the designated Child Abuse Prevention Council for Siskiyou County, First 5 Siskiyou leads efforts to protect children and promote family well-being through trauma-informed education, prevention strategies, and community engagement. This role reflects a deep commitment to safeguarding childhood and supporting families with dignity and care. In response to evolving community needs, First 5 Siskiyou is expanding services to include families with school-age children ensuring that support, connection, and prevention efforts extend beyond the early years. The Commission also provides professional development trainings to build the capacity of educators, service providers, and family support professionals. These trainings foster shared learning, strengthen trauma-informed practices, and promote collaboration across sectors.
Through strategic funding, thoughtful policy development, and collaborative leadership, the Commission strengthens a network of vital systems that support families and young children. These include:
- Quality Counts Siskiyou, which drives continuous improvement in Early Care and Education programs
- Home Visitation Systems Coordination, fostering integrated supports and seamless collaboration among Home Visitation programs
- Strengthening Families Siskiyou Child Abuse Prevention Council and Parenting Education Collaborative
- Help Me Grow Siskiyou
The Commission also leads responsive outreach and education initiatives that promote child safety, early literacy, and equitable access to essential services. With a strong commitment to collaboration, system evaluation and continuous improvement, it ensures that local efforts remain responsive, inclusive, and sustainable—building a foundation of dignity, resilience, and collective impact.
Meaningful change does not happen in isolation. It’s built through shared vision, coordinated effort, and the courage to act together. We invite you to join us in strategic co-funding partnership to amplify and ensure long-term, sustainable educational programming across Siskiyou County. By convening partners across healthcare, education, government, and community organizations, First 5 Siskiyou works with partners including parents, educators, and those in social services, community-based organizations, and service clubs to cultivate a shared vision for collective impact. At its core, we are more than a funder, we are a steward of hope, a convener of partners, and a catalyst for lasting change. Together with families and community partners, we are building a future where every child in Siskiyou County can thrive.
