The Tulelake/Newell Family Resource Center is located in the Tulelake Youth and Community Center (The Honker) in front of the Tulelake High School. Operating hours are Monday thru Thursday from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon drop in and 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm by appointment. The Center, a division of T.E.A.C.H., Inc., began providing services in Tulelake and the surrounding area in April 1997. Since its inception it has provided a variety of health, educational and basic support services to children, youth and adults residing in the Tulelake area of Siskiyou County through support from First 5 Siskiyou, Siskiyou County MHSA, SCNAC, MSCAA and other supporting funders..

Current Project Objectives – Funding for fiscal year 2011-2012 from First 5 Siskiyou – $37,000

  • Healthy Families and Medi-Cal application support
  • Resource and referrals for programs and services throughout the county and beyond
  • Education, Housing and Employment resources and support
  • Work Experience program enrollment assistance and support
  • Community Service Work Site
  • Volunteer Work Site
  • Computer Lab and Lending Resource Library
  • Injury prevention education workshops – car seat and helmet – also in partnership with Siskiyou County Public Health
  • Oral Health Education and Awareness
  • Nutrition and Physical Fitness Activities – also in partnership with the SCNAC program
  • Family Literacy promotion through children’s book and parenting resource distribution
  • Life Skills One Time Workshops – topics include Cooking on a Budget, Financial Budgeting and CPR/First Aid
  • Children’s Fair Event to celebrate Week of the Young Child, in coordination with other local and county agencies
  • Child Abuse Prevention Month county-wide activities
