The Butte Valley Community Resource Center (BVCRC) is the result of the needs and the collaboration among the local stakeholders to provide services and opportunities for our fellow community members in Dorris and the surrounding Butte Valley. BVCRC's partners include but are not limited to Mt. Valleys Health Centers, Butte Valley Unified School District, Butte Valley Montessori Children's House, Butte Valley Chamber of Commerce, First 5 Siskiyou, Community Services Council, Siskiyou County Sheriffs and local City and County officials, and all Siskiyou County service organizations.
The Center maintains an open door policy for drop-in services. Programs and services have been developed throughout the Center's first year of operation according to the needs of the Butte Valley community and are expanding as we begin our second year.
Current Project Objectives (10-11)- Funded by First 5 Siskiyou for $39,000)
- A Nutrition program with the development of the community garden
- CPR, First Aid and PEDS Classes in English & Spanish
- Bike Rally/Rodeo: for the distribution of Safety Helmets
- Car Seat Education Classes and Distribution
- Family Fun Nights (4)
- Computer Lab and Internet access
- Parenting Classes
- Parenting Workshops
- Mother’s Support group (PIPE training)
- Toddler Play Groups
- Teen Support Group

- Promote April Child Abuse Prevention Month
- Provide health, nutrition and physical education information onsite and through BVCRC events and programs including children's story hour and Family Fun Nights
- Distribute free books to children and families through a reading program and activities
- Expand the lending library and Children's Story Book Hour for children 0-5 and their parents
- Coordinate and provide Family Fun Nights
- Implementation of Play and Grow and Mommy and Me programs
- Distribution of Parenting Kits
- Provide a venue for peer to peer support groups
- Provide a venue for single parents to gather and meet
- Promote family involvement in the community garden
- Provide monthly calendar of activities with semi annual newsletter
